Honda Repair: high milage and oil, synthetic blends, high mileage

Question
I recently bought a 91 Accord with 186,000+ miles on it for $500 to keep from running up miles on the family car when just commuting to work.  Do you think it's worth the exspense of using synthetic oil in it with that many miles?  The car seems to have been taken care of; there are many service reciepts in the glove box.  What about high milage oils?  Is there something to high milage oil, or do you think it's just a gimmick to get suckers to pay twice as much for oil?  Thanks for your time.

Answer
Synthetics and synthetic blends are good; you won't hurt your engine. High mileage oils do seem like a gimmick to me, I would use a regular 5W30/10W30 (40) depending on what the manual calls for, I think yours would use 10W30 or 10W40, whatever it is I would stick to it year round and change it regularly.
