Honda Repair: Malfunction Indicator LIght, malfunction indicator light, auto zone

Question
I have a Honda Accord 2000 V6 with 104,000 miles on it.

5 days ago I accidently drove over a mound that I thought was snow..but turned out to be ice. Now, on the sixth day, my Malfunction Indicator Light has come on? Do you think this might be related?

I noticed in the manual it says that it might be the gas cap..I did get gas two days ago. I retightened it this morning.

I will probably go to Auto Zone to see if they can tell me what the light is referring to.

The car runs fine.

Answer
The computer will compensate for any problem with the engine and allow you to drive without noticing any difference. Auto Zone is good for getting the codes from the engine, but I would caution you that the code may be deceiving. I'm not saying to forget Auto Zone, just be careful. It is hard to say whether driving through a mound of ice would of caused this, I would think your indicator lamp would have come on right a way if it was.

Good luck.
