Question
I just replaced my camshaft pulley a month ago.  My car sat idle for 3 months prior, after two weeks of driving it started idling rough and losing power while driving.  I put a fuel additive in it from stp to see if it would clear up and it continued to get worse.  I put a jumper on the ecu wire harness to diagnose any electrical problem, it showed a problem with the crank sensor located in the distributor ( I read this in a chiliton auto book.) I couldn't get to the crank sensor, I couldn't get the rotor off. My question is does this all sound correct or is the crank sensor not in the distributor?  I'm about to order a brand new distributor no one will sell me a crank sensor with out the distributor. thank you in advance

Answer
THE CRANK SENSORS ARE MORE DIFFICULT TO REPLACE THAT IS WHY NO ONE WILL SELL ONE WITHOUT THE WHOLE DISTRIBUTOR ITSELF SO I WOULD PREFER YOU TO REPLACE THE WHOLE DISTRIBUTOR IT WILL SAVE TIME AND IF YOU WERE TRYING TO TAKE THE ROTOR OFF IT SHOULD POP RIGHT OFF OR THERE MIGHT BE A SCREW HOLDING IT ON.
