Honda Repair: Very High Idle, honda accord 88, radiator fluid

Question
Hello,

I have a Honda Accord 88 LX it has a lot of miles and it runs very good but lately (since it started getting very cold) when I start it in the morning it idles way too high (2500 +) and it takes too long to go down. I have not been able to figure out what is wrong and I was wondering if you have any ideas. Thank you.

Answer
What it seems like to me is that either your idle air control valve is faulty or you can have low radiator fluid which causes the engine not to warm up quickly so i would prefer to check the radiator fluid and the also check the engine oil. My car has actually had the same problem it was just low on radiator fluid plus morning start ups usually start up in high rpms due to cold weather.
