Honda Repair: bad running and cutting out, jap import, 4ws

i have an '89 2ltr Si 4WS,,,jap import,,,the trouble i have it starts and runs ok when cold,but after about 15 minutes it dies and wont restart unless left for about half hour,,,someone told me its a faulty ignition module on the distributor,,,also when i bought the car the timing is set to full advance,,,and it wont run retarded any further,,,help its driving me mad and honda want a fortune for diagnosis tests! by the way the car is a twin carb model and is standard in everyway as far as i know

Hello ,It sound like you have a distrbutor problem. It uses an ignitor it could also be a bad coil. You shold have a shop give you a secoun opinion. It might cost an hour or two to diagnos the problem. Just call an repair shop to get a quote. Good luck
