Honda Repair: honda accord door jammed, door latch, master mechanic

Question
1992 honda accord drivers door is closed and will not open from the inside or outside  or with a key. I have pulled the interior door cover off and all the linkage is intact. I have noticed the passenger door latch is plastic and when in the closed position it doesnt take much pressure hold the latch closed.

Answer
Michael,

I assume your question is how do you get the door open.
Well it sounds like you have a bad drivers door latch. They often get jammed on these cars and can be very difficult to open. What you have to do is remove the door panel from the inside of the car. Once you do that, you must drill out the latch. There is a special spot where you must drill on the latch. As you drill it out, the door will pop open for you. The trick is knowing where to drill. I really don't know how to tell you where to drill. Its kind of in the middle of the latch is the best way I can explain it.
I would suggest you taking it to a Honda dealer. If you plan on doing it yourself, I sould suggest you going to the dealer and asking a technician who has seen this before to tell you where to drill it out.

Good luck and thanks for the question,
