Honda Repair: Accord Suspension, honda accord v6, strut mounts

Question
Gene. Sorry I made the question more complicated than it should be. Let's say the control arm is tampered with and it is reinstalled angled higher than it should be instead of straight. Is it possible that that could be the reason that the control arm is hitting the shock mount area? I think the control arm is supposed to be flat (90 degree angle). I think when the person who installed my suspension could have put back the control arm in the wrong way. I am asking if that could make the control arm knock. I apologize if I'm not being clear.

Hello Gene. I have a 2001 Honda Accord V6 and I recently upgraded my suspension to TEIN SS coilovers. I also installed some SPC front camber kits. The person who installed them for me took off the control arm (A arm). My question is...is it possible that if the control arm is not aligned correctly with the rest of the suspension, can it cause knocking? I have about 1-2 finger gap in the front and the top of the camber kit is hitting the bottom of the area where the strut mounts. Please help! No one seems to know. If you have any questions or need clarification, please let me know. Thanks. David

David,
I will be honest with you. One thing I am not an expert at is aftermarket springs and camber kits.
I am not too sure when you say "is it possible that if the control arm is not aligned correctly with the rest of the suspension, can it cause knocking?" Something will cause a knocking when either there is too much play, and it causes the loose part to slap against something. or something will knock if it is hitting some other part. And when you say "the top of the camber kit is hitting the bottom of the area where the strut mounts" well then I think you just answered your own question.
Those aftermarket suspension kits can get very complicated, and can cost you a lot of money in the long run. You will most likley have tire wear problems down the road no matter who works on your car. That is unless you find someone really in tune to setting your car up. And that is what I suggest you do. Look for a performance shop in your area, and do your homework. It will pay off "Down the road"
Good luck and sorry I could not be of better help.
Thanks

Answer
David,

If your control arm is installed incorrectly, like on the wrong angle, then it can cause a knocking noise. I do not know how someone can install a control arm wrong, but I have seen worse things. As the car is on the ground, it should be about 90 degrees as you mentioned. Keep in mind as the car travels over bumps, the control arm moves up and down, and anything in its way, it will hit. You should bounce up and down on the car. Do you hear the knock? What is it hitting? I would take it back and tell them your problem. They should stand behind thier work.
Hope that answers your question.
