Honda Repair: Long warm up time (1987 Honda Civic), warm up time, honda civic

Question
The following problem showed up a year ago when my 1987 Honda Civic (carburetor) got about 150K miles on the odometer.  The car requires at least 4-minute warm-up before it can be driven. If I simply drive the car w/o enough warm-up time, the engine will die. Long warm-up time is required after the car sits there for a long time even if it is 30 degree C. (86 F). On the other hand, if the engine is hot enough, no warm-up is required. What could have caused the problem?

Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

Answer
Hangy,

This problem is very common with your car. It is one of two things.
1: The insulator block is leaking vaccum and needs to be replaced. (It is the gasket below the carb.)
2: Your vaccum advance on your distrubitor is leaking.
Get those things checked out and I am sure that is what you will find.

Thanks for the question,
