Honda Repair: 1984 Honda Civic Shuttle, civic shuttle, accelerator pedal

Question
Hi Gene, sorry to bother you - could you give me your opinion on a fault on the above vehicle. 12valve 1.6cc engine idle's at approx 2000 rpm - unable to manually decrease idle setting from any screws/adjusters on throttle body. When accelerator pedal depressed engine 'sounds' as though it isn't getting enough fuel or air. Checked all vacume pipes, no water leaks all sensors appear to be sending & recieving, no broken multiplugs or fuses & no fault code on ECU. Timing appears to be correct & timing belt is in good condition, tensioner OK & timing marks spot on. Tried a replacement distributor from donar vehicle as I thought vacume advance was the fault but no difference ? Obviously I started at the plugs & leads but again they are fine. Any advice greatly appreciated - regards.

Answer
Kurt,
You stated that you have a 1984 civic wagon, but the information in your question does not match that car. A throttle body usually refers to a fuel injected car. Your car is not fuel injected. Also you said it has no codes in the computer. Your car is carbuerated and does not have a computer. What sensors did you check? Again it is not injected so I am not too sure what you are talking about. One last thing. I am not too sure of your question. Is your problem that the car will not idle correctly or is the question that the car has no power. "engine 'sounds' as though it isn't getting enough fuel or air."
Write back to me and maybe I can help you out.
Thanks for the question,
Gene
