Honda Repair: SUSPENSION PROBLEMS, cam air, sway bar

Question
1992 ACCORD EX COUPE OWN 10YRS - NEGLECTED CAR FOR OVR A YR OR MORE - TOOK CAR IN FOR CLINKING,SQUEEKING & CREAKING NOISES FROM DRVS SIDE WHEEL WHEN DRIVING OVER BUMPS,GETTING IN AND OUT OF THE CAR, OR PUSHING ON THE FRONT END. STEERABILITY AFFECTED-CAR FEELS LIKE IT PITCHES,ROLLS AND SWAYS SLIGHTLY WHILE DRIVING. THEY REPLACED 2 UPPER CONTROL ARMS,DID AN ALIGNMENT,REPLACED THE PWR STERING GEAR,THEY SAID IT WAS "BINDING"? FLUSHED THE FLUID(JUST HAD THIS DONE 5MO AGO,THEY SAID IT SHOULD BE DONE EVRY 6 MO).
RESULT-CLINKING NOISE IS GONE, SQUEAKING/CREAKING STILL THERE,STEERABILITY SLIGHTLY IMPROVED BUT NOT MUCH. ALMOST FEELS TOO LOOSE NOW.
WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM? WHAT'S BINDING? I DON'T THINK MY STEERING WAS "BINDING". DOES 2 UPPER ARM CNTRLS MEAN ONE SIDE OR BOTH SIDES OF CAR? IF ONLY ONE SIDE, SHOULDN'T BOTH SIDES BE DONE IF THE CAR IS 12YRS OLD? I'M TAKING BACK ON MONDAY AND DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING. I SPENT $1,300 ALREADY.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR AND WHAT SHOULD I DO?
THEY ARE VERY REPUTABLE FMLY BUSINESS HAD EXCELLENT SERVICE YRS AGO BUT THIS VISIT I FELT TREATED LIKE A STUPID FEMALE. I'M SO UPSET AND FRUSTRATED WITH THE SHOP. 1 MONTH AGO REPLACED TIMING BELT,CAM, AIR CONDITIONING, SWAY BAR LNKS AND RT AXLE SEAL.

Answer
Amy,
I am sorry for your bad situation. This is a prime example of a shop that does not know Hondas too well. The are using your car and your money in the wrong way. You should not pay a dime more in order for them to fix the car right!! When you drop the car off, remind them that you spent $1,300! Tell them that you are not going to give them any more money. Tell them that you have been complaining of this noise all along. Tell them that you are going to take it to another shop if they do not fix it, and you wont be back again. That should wake them up a little bit. Don't be afraid to speak your mind. You have a right! Remember, do not give them any more money. If you have to take it to a GOOD shop, then do it. Hint: Go to a dealer. So many people think they are too expensive, but look at your situation now. The dealer would have the car fixed already and probally for half the price. WE KNOW HONDAS at the dealer! I don't know how these independants get away with the things they do!
As far as the noise goes, I can't hear it, so its hard to diagnose. Sounds like it may be either a stablizer bar link, a lower ball joint, or a bad strut. Have someone who knows what they are doing look at your car. Don't just open your purse for them anymore!! Girl power!
good luck
