Honda Repair: 87 Accord Electrical probs, blown fuses, dash clock

Question
 PLEASE HELP!!!;
     I recently bought an '87 accord. The only thing wrong with it was it's lack of a stereo, as I was performing a poor-man's install of a cheap tape deck, I managed to short something out. both the power to the dash clock and the stereo went out.
  The fuse labeled 'radio' blew so I replaced it, and still no power to the dash clock or 'radio' power cable. I tried to trace the wires back to see if they run into a relay(which i really dont know how to check) or something else. but no luck there, all the wires run either into 1 of 2 black boxes attached to the removable plastic panel under the steering wheel or to the wiring harness directly behind it.
   What can i do, I'm pretty good with a soldering iron, but i dont know the first thing about tracing this kind of problem down. I really can't afford to take it to a shop, and the only things that seem to be affected are the dash clock and the stereo power, so it is more of an annoyance than an imperitave. please answer quickly though as i am taking a long road trip in less than a week.
Thanks in advance,

Answer
Mr Noob,
There are only 2 possibilties. One is that you have another fuse that is blown. There is  a fuse for the clock and for the radio. You need to check all the fuses and replace any blown fuses.
The other possibility is the radio is not connected properly. And that is why the radio is not working. (or the radio is no good)
Thats it! You did not burn a relay up. Check the fuses and radio connections again.
Thanks for  your question,
