Honda Repair: 89 honda accord, vacum leaks, loose power

sometimes my honda cuts out loses power and dies. i have replaced fuel filters, plugs,cap and rotor. i don't hear any vacum leaks. the car had been sitting for awhile when i bought it . it also is leaking alittle on pipe under thermostat housing .this loks difficult to replace.it runs under the manifold .i also smell gas sometimes

Depending on what model you have, sounds like you have several problems. If it is an dx or lx accord, your problem sounds like a bad fuel pump. The filter ON the fuel pump, in the gas tank is probally clogged. As you cruise down the road, the filter stops the required amount of fuel to enter the carb. ,thus causing the car to loose power and die. (cant get the right amount of fuel)
As far as the fuel leak, its impossible to diag. that over the internet. In any case, any fuel leak is serious and should be attented to immediatly.
