Honda Repair: Emissions, pcv system, state cars

Question
I have an 84 Accord.  I had a used motor put in it.  There is two problems.  The mechanic can't seem to be able to analize this.
1.  Through the blow by filter on the air filter housing it is sucking oil into the air cleaner.  I have a diagram of an 86 Accord and the diagram shows a hose going from the blow by liquid vapor separator to the pcv then to the intake manifold, and then a hose going from the top of the valve cover to the air filter housing.  On mine a hose goes from the blow by liquid vapor separator to the air cleaner housing, and the other house starting at the top of the valve cover with the pcv and the going to the intake manifold.  Is this possibly reversed on my car causing it to suck oil?
2.  The car runs rough at times, and tends to stall randomly.  Could this be the EGR valve?
         Thank you  Craig

Answer
Hey Craig, sorry I took so long, I've out of town for a couple days.
This is tough question to answer without seeing the car, but I'll give you some suggestions.
First, your diagram from the 86 is useless. The 86 is a totally different car. I would start by checking your pcv system function. The breather is just that, a breather to take in fresh air from the a/cl housing for the pcv system.
The pvc system pulls vapor/pressure out of the crankcase, and needs a fresh air vent to prevent creating an excessive vacuum. Which brings up the next tip. If the breather system isn't functioning, or is hooked up wrong, you will have the problem you described. You need to get a diagram for the engine you installed, if it's not from another 84. Also remember that California cars have different emmissions systems than 49 state cars.
Good Luck!  And if you really get stuck, take it to a Honda Dealership. Yes, you'll pay a little more, but they should know how to fix it.
