Hyundai Repair: XG300 Rear Marker Lights, marker lamps, rear marker

Question
How do you access the side rear marker lights on the XG300? I have a brake light indicator coming on because the side marker light is out,and I need to fix it before I get car inspected.

Answer
Hi, Joe.  The marker lamps snap in and out of the rear bumper cover.  One end of the lamp has a latching mechanism while the other will snap in/out.  If you're having trouble getting the lamp out, you might try to pry it out a little and look behind.  If you can pry it out enough to get a pick or similar instrument in to push on the latch, the lamp should come right out.

Keep in mind, however, that the marker lamp is not the cause for the brake lamp indicator coming on.  If we're talking about the word "brake," this is typically on either because the parking brake is engaged or the brake fluid is low.  If we're talking about the picture of a bulb, this indicates that one of the brake lamps is out.  Usually, one of the bulbs in a tail lamp assembly is not illuminating when the brake pedal is depressed.
