Hyundai Repair: Starter repair?, starter solenoid, hyundai accent

Question
My 2001 Hyundai Accent will not start.  It will crank, but it will not turn over.  Should I remove the starter, the starter solenoid and the starter switch to have them tested?

Answer
Hi, Mark.  If your engine is cranking at normal speed but not starting, then we already know the starter is not the issue.  The purpose of the starter is simply to give the engine the momentum necessary for it to run on its own.

To make progress toward a resolution, you should check three things:
1.  Does the check engine lamp illuminate when you turn the ignition key to the "on" position?
2.  Do you have spark at the spark plugs when cranking the engine?
3.  Do you have fuel pressure when cranking the engine?

****Do not test for fuel and spark at the same time!  This could result in a fire.****
