Hyundai Repair: 02 sonata GLS really stiff shifter (automatic), detent pin, automatic car

Question
Car shifts fine, nothing was spilt around the area. drove some place, car was
acting fine, came back to the car an hour later, and the shifter was very hard
to move out of P. I have to push it around pretty hard to make it go from
anywhere D to P.

What do I check???

Answer
Hi, James.  If you had difficulty moving the shifter out of park, there may be an issue with the shift interlock cables and/or their adjustment.

If you applied too much force to the shifter, you may have bent it, now causing it to be difficult to move at all.

Ultimately, you'll probably need to remove the console to inspect the shifter, interlock cables, and the detent pin.
