Hyundai Repair: 2001 Hyundai elantra, coolant levels, hyundai elantra

Question
Driving on interstate car  hesitated and then started to loose power and
then died.. Engine area smelled like burnt electrical. Towed home tried to
start and car loud knocking noise and motor started shaking. And would
only stay running 3 to 4 secs.

Answer
Hi, Kevin.  It sounds like you may have overheated your car to the point the engine was damaged or that you have engine damage due to running the engine with too little oil in it.

Start with checking your oil and coolant levels.  If okay, try to determine where the knocking noise is originating and follow-up.  I.e., is it coming from the engine or elsewhere?  If it is coming from the engine, can you tell me whether it's coming from the upper or lower half of the engine?
