Hyundai Repair: 2001 Santa Fe V6 engine hesitation.

Question
When starting the car engine it runs ruff. When I step on the gas the car doesn't want to go, then all of a sudden it kicks in and goes. When I come to a stop it hesitates. Some days it doesn't even do this and runs perfectly fine other days it's a pain in my butt.

Answer
Hi, Denise.

It sounds like you may have an intermittent misfire.  In most cases, misfires violent enough to cause a severe lack of power are caused by secondary ignition (plugs, wires, coil) failures.  Typically, this would also cause the check engine lamp to come on and a code to be stored indicating the misfiring cylinder(s).

If your check engine lamp is on, I'd recommend starting with determining what code is stored.  This will hopefully enable you to verify whether my speculation above is correct.
