Hyundai Repair: xg350, coolant lines, intake plenum

Question
How do I change the spark plugs on my 2002 xg350? I can see the front plugs but cannot get to the back plugs.

Answer
Hi, Herb.  You'll need to remove the upper half of the intake manifold (intake plenum) to replace the rear three plugs.  Because of the difficulty of this task, I usually recommend replacing the plug wires (with factory wires) when replacing the plugs.

When I do this, I typically don't fully remove the plenum, but rather unplug the wiring and unbolt it so I can tilt it out of my way without undoing the coolant lines from the throttle body.

As I recall, the following bolts need to be removed:
-- 5 bolts/2 nuts from the front of the plenum
-- 4 bots from support brackets from the rear of the plenum
-- 1 bolt from the EGR pipe bracket from the rear of the plenum
-- 2 bolts from the EGR valve.
All the bolts should have 12mm heads.
