Hyundai Repair: 01 ELANTRA ELECTRCAL PROBLEMS, check fuse, fuse box

Question
I have a 01 Elantra GLS and I'm having some electrical issues. My head lamps(high or low), door lights, dome light, power windows, radio and clock do not work. Tail lights, brake lights, parking lights, turn signals, wipers and dash lights all work. I have checked fuses and  swapped relays with known good ones, ie fuel, pump and have had no luck. Does anyone know a solution or have an idea about this problem?

Answer
Hi, Chris.  Looking at the schematics, I don't see one single problem that could cause your issue, but it could be caused by only two fuses being blown.

I'm going to send you to check those fuses (and the power connector), but if you can, check them with a test light, so that if the fuses aren't blown, we'll learn some more information about where the problem(s) may lie.  To check a fuse with a test light, place the clip for the lamp on a good ground-- the bare metal behind the dash is a good selection.  Then, probe the two exposed metal areas of the fuse.  If both light the lamp, the fuse is powered and is not blown.  If neither lights the fuse, the fuse isn't powered, and we have no information regarding whether the fuse is blown.  And if one lights the fuse and the other doesn't, the fuse is powered but blown.

We're interested in fuses 20 and 25 in the dash fuse box, which is located behind the coin box on the left side of the dash.  We'll start with fuse 20.  It's the 10A fuse that's the second one from the left in the bottom row.  This powers the headlamp and power window relays and should be powered up whenever the ignition is on (engine not necessarily running).  Next, check fuse 25.  It's the 10A rightmost fuse in the bottom row.  This fuse powers the remaining items that you say are not working.  It should be powered at all times.  If it isn't powered, check the black power connector plug just to the right of this fuse.  If missing or installed upside down, the fuse won't power up.

If this doesn't lead you to your problem, follow-up with what the results from above.
