Hyundai Repair: Air Bag, clock spring, steering wheel

Question
My check air bag light is on. Sometiimes is out for a moment or two until car starts. At first I could tap my steering wheel and it would go out. So I am fairly sure that is the air bag that is causing the problem. Any thing I can do as a novice to check why it is lit. Thanks,'
Ken

Answer
There's little you'll be able to do without a scan tool capable of reading codes from the air bag system.  You'll need to take the car to a shop with such a tool (and a mechanic capable of diagnosing air bag problems) or the dealer for diagnosis.

The fact that you can cause a change by tapping the steering wheel suggests that the problem is in the steering column, either with the clock spring, air bag, wire harness, or a connection there.
