Hyundai Repair: Stall or sputtering occasionally when coming to a stop, throttle position sensor, mass air flow

Question
My 2001 XG300 (180,000 miles) is trying to stall or sputtering occasionally when i come to a complete stop at a traffic light. Recently I had Mass Air Flow/accelerator sensor replaced for an accelerating problem which is different than the stall or sputtering problem after applid brake at a light.

Answer
Hi, Max.  Depending on the repairs done, it may have been necessary for the repair shop to relearn the idle, especially if the throttle body was cleaned or replaced or the throttle position sensor replaced.  If the shop didn't do this when necessary, the engine may attempt to stall at idle, especially if the a/c is on.

I've seen the electronic throttle on a significant number of these fail, so that could be your issue as well.

I'd expect that there will be trouble codes stored due to a near stall condition.  If you haven't done so, have the trouble codes checked.  This may lead you directly to the problem.
