Trying to replace cable on 2003 Hyundai Elantra driver side and see its easy on top by handle but what's easiest way to connect at latch? does whole latch assy need to come out. If so how?

Answer
You'll need to remove the latch and latch cover.

1. If you haven't already done so, remove the door trim panel.  Prior to unplugging the window switch, roll up the window.
2. Remove the three bolts holding the latch to the door.
3. Pull back the plastic covering on the inside of the door to gain necessary access.
4. Unbolt the rear window track.
5. Disconnect the rods from the outside door handle.
6. Unplug the lock actuator.
7. Push in the white plastic fingers at the rear of the regulator assembly and slide the latch assembly forward and off the regulator assembly.
8. Remove the latch cover.
9. Disconnect the cable from the latch.
10. Install new cable on latch and door handle.
11. Reinstall latch cover.
12. Reattach latch to regulator.
13. Bolt latch to door.
14. Reattach rods to outside door handle.
15. Plug in actuator.
16. Reattach window track.
17. Reattach plastic to door.
18. Reinstall the door handle.
19. Reinstall the door panel.
