Hyundai Repair: 2005 hyundia accent timing belt, crankshaft pulley, oil pump housing

Question
QUESTION: dear, sir i want to replace my timing belt on my 05 hyundia accent ,but dont know the exact numbers on the crankshaft pully,as i know from experience that i have to alighn the camshadt pully and the crankshaft pully.

ANSWER: Hi, Doug.  There are no numbers.  The crankshaft sprocket will have a mark on it that aligns with a protrusion on the front case, and the camshaft sprocket has a hole in it that will align in front of a mark on the front camshaft bearing cap.  Once you get the covers off, rotate the engine until the timing marks are aligned.  Then, release the tension and remove the timing belt.  This way, the engine will still be aligned properly for timing belt installation.

QUESTION: thanks, but what protrusion are you talking about, the engine has a timing tag that has btdc at the top and four hash marks on the bottom, wher a 10 is stamped above the second hash mark, and a t is stamped on the last hash.i have experience putting belts on a 85 pontiac t1000.and the crank lined up with the 0 on the tab.

Answer
You can line up the white paint mark on the crankshaft pulley to the T mark on the timing cover if you'd like, but the crankshaft pulley typically turns a little bit during the removal of the crankshaft bolt.  The marks I'm referring to at the crankshaft are behind the lower timing cover.  One is on the sprocket itself, and the protrusion is on the front case/oil pump housing.
