Hyundai Repair: Engine Code 1529, solenoid valves, dtcs

Question
I have an '01 Hyndai Elantra GT and i recently found out my engine light came on and the code I was given by a mechanic here in Italy where I'm stationed is P1529.  Since he doesn't know extensive english, it was a little difficult to understand what the problem was.  What I gathered was a problem with the TCM.  Is this part cheap to replace?  Also he said something about replacing valves...any help with this would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Answer
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P1529 simply indicates that the transmission control module (TCM) requested that the engine control module (ECM) turn on the check engine lamp.  It does not indicate a problem with the TCM.  It also indicates that the problem is related to the transmission.

To determine more precisely the nature of the problem, you'll need to read the DTCs stored in the TCM.

As to the valves that were recommended to be replaced, I don't know which valves are being referred to.  Perhaps one or more solenoid valves in the transmission?  Did the mechanic already retrieve DTCs from the TCM?
