Hyundai Repair: 2003 hyundai engine code p0734a, vehicle speed sensor, pulse generators

I have a 03 accent thats been giving me transmission problems. When I first start the car, put it in drive and start to go it enters first gear perfectly, however once it shifts out of first gear it does not go back until I shut the car off and turn it back on. Only very rarely has the car gone back down to first. The car shifts out of second and into third fine, but it does not go into overdrive. The overdrive button does turn on the light on dash but the car will not engage in overdrive. My CEL is on and It tested PO734a.   any help would be so greatly appreciated .

P0734 indicates the transmission is slipping in fourth gear.  Usually, this will require transmission replacement.  

Check the fluid level to be sure it's proper.  If okay, take the car to a shop for diagnosis.  It's also important to check the operation of the pulse generators and vehicle speed sensor, since they can trigger a false slip code if they're not operating properly.
