Question
QUESTION: Hi,

When I drive my car for long ride and then stop it and turn off the engine it will be hard to start it again sometimes it takes 10 tries to start and as longer the engine will stay working the harder to start it again after shutting it off.

Beside that I am facing most of the time hesitation on acceleration problem when taking off after stopping on traffic lights.

my spark plugs are new and its genuine platinum
No light is flashing in my dashboard

What would cause all of that??

Thanks

ANSWER: I suppose my first question is whether the check engine lamp is functional.  When you turn the ignition to the on position, it should illuminate briefly.  If it doesn't the lamp is burned out or the bulb has been removed.  In this case, you should expect to find some diagnostic trouble codes.  Even if not, it's still a good idea to check for codes as any stored may send you quickly in the direction of the problem, saving a large amount of time.

As far as the potential causes, they're numerous.  Some potential causes:
-- Defective fuel pump
-- Defective fuel pressure regulator
-- Defective spark plugs (which you've already addressed)
-- Defective spark plug wires
-- Defective ignition coil
-- Defective crankshaft position sensor
-- Defective coolant temperature sensor
-- Incorrect camshaft timing
-- Restricted catalytic converter or other exhaust component.

So it's imperative to attempt to find the nature of the problem while it's occurring.  Do you have proper fuel pressure?  Is the engine misfiring?  Do you have spark?  Etc.  Once you've narrowed down to the type of problem, it's easier to start checking individual items.  I'll note that of the potential causes listed above, only the top two frequently occur without causing some sort of diagnostic trouble code (DTC) to set.

QUESTION: Hi,

I tried to check the check engine lamp and its not flashing briefly in on position.
After many attempts when warm the car will start and the smell like its flooded.
one mechanic told me about a sensor near the intake it has a small hole that sucks air he said its defective because it should not do that

thanks

Answer
Presuming you have a check engine lamp, it should come on when the key is turned to the on position.  Keep in mind I'm not familiar with the details of fuel management systems used in Saudi Arabia, so it's difficult for me to say whether your vehicle has this lamp.  If it doesn't come on, it could indicate that the engine control module isn't turning on-- this would cause a crank, no start condition-- or that the bulb is missing or burned out.  In such a case, I'd recommend starting with checking diagnostic trouble codes.

As to the sensor with the hole, I do not know to which sensor you are referring.  Did the mechanic tell you the name of the sensor?  If I know the purpose of the sensor, I can then advise you regarding whether the hole is normal and whether it's likely to have a significant impact.
