Hyundai Repair: radio code, hyundai sonata, radio code

QUESTION: hi there i just bought a 1995 hyundai sonata and the radio doesnt work. it says 1111 on the led display. I held the 4 button while turning the radio on and it looked like - - -

i was wondering if u had the code.

ANSWER: Hi, Sat.  The dash grid is 3x3 with the potential for a 1 in front of it.  As I read your message, I gather that the top row has a dash in each position, the second row has a dash in the 1st position, and the third row has a dash in the 1st and 3rd position.  If all that is correct, your radio code should be 4145.

Now that we know the code how would i go about entering it seeing as any of the buttons dont seem to do anything? Thanks for your help and look forward to hearing back from you.  P.S. Answer
Press and hold the band button for a few seconds.  In most circumstances, this will clear what has been entered.  If it doesn't, the wrong code had been entered three times and you'll need to leave the radio turned on (when driving or with the key in the accessory position) for 30 minutes.  You should then be able to clear the display and enter the code using the number keys on the radio.
