Hyundai Repair: 2001 hyundai accent 1.6 4cyl., intake manifold gasket, hyundai accent

Question
i just replaced bent intake valves in motor, it starts fine but it sounds like it running on 3 cyl. rough idle, after 3000 rpm it runs smoother, autozone check it and it says cyl. #2 is misfiring. i checked fuel and spark ok. a web site told me the iring order on coil packs ia 1432 but it wont run that way but it runs pretty good at 1342. can u help me

Answer
Anytime the engine runs smooth off idle but misfires at idle, suspect a leaking intake manifold gasket.  This will allow a significant amount of air into one cylinder through the leaking gasket.  At idle, this will make a large difference in the amount of air in the cylinder, causing the mixture in that cylinder to be lean and resulting in a misfire.  When the throttle is opened, the amount of air entering the cylinders is much greater, and this leak won't make a large enough difference in the amount of air entering the cylinder in question to cause a noticeable misfire.

As for the firing order, the firing order of the engine is 1-3-4-2.  Cylinders 1 and 4 are on the rear coil, and cylinders 2 and 3 are on the front.  If my recollection is correct, from front to back on the coil pack, you should have 2-3-4-1.
