AnswerThe slider is part of the PRND indicator assembly. The assembly wasn't made in a manner to be taken apart, so if you attempt to do this, be very careful.
What you might try is to pry up the the console trim around the shifter; it just snaps out of place. This will enable you to see the whole indicator assembly and you can perhaps clean different areas by moving the shifter around to various positions.
If you decide you need to remove the indicator, you'll need to remove the shift knob to get it off the lever. To do this, pry the button out of the top of the shifter and remove the spring and spacer. Then, remove the nut holding the shifter knob in place. You should now be able to detach and remove the PRND indicator assembly.
