Hyundai Repair: timing, trouble code, timing belt

Question
i have a 97 accent 1.5L SOHC and just replaced the timing belt but theres a miss in the engine. the timing marks align and was wondering if theres a way to adjust the timing other than the timing belt. p.s. theres no distributor

Answer
The ignition timing is not adjustable.  Furthermore, a misfire cannot be caused by the timing belt as it would affect all the cylinders the same.  Start by attempting to locate the misfiring cylinder.  If you have a misfire trouble code, it should identify the cylinder.  If not, unplug the fuel injectors one at a time to see when you've found the one that doesn't change the roughness of the engine.  Then, you need to start checking the things that could cause misfire: coil, plug, plug wire, injector, low compression, etc.  A common technique is to switch a component (such as a spark plug or injector) from one cylinder to another to see if the misfire moves with the component.
