Hyundai Repair: Hyundai 2004 Tiburon ignition switch stuck, 2004, Hyundai

Question
My ignition switch on my 2004 tiburon in stuck will not turn. I had noticed it sticking for a while. will this be a costly repair?

Answer
With a 2004 Tiburon, there is a bit that will have to go into this. the ignition key is the same key that opens the doors, obviously, but with the Tiburon, there is the matter of the alarm system that is linked to both the doors and the ignition. If you switch out the ignition, that is going to change your key as well, and therefore you will need to replace every lock on the car and sync them with the alarm system. That could get fairly pricey considering that kind of an alarm/lock system will have to be repaired at a Hyundai dealership or certified mechanic that knows how to deal with Hyundais, and in personal experience, there has been few that could tell me much about my '03 Tiburon.

Now, if the ignition itself can be fixed, such as if there is just a spring or switch inside it that is acting up, that shouldn't be too costly, and most mechanics anywhere should be able to fix that for you considering it is a basic device found in every vehicle.

If there is anything else that I can help you with just let me know and I will gladly help you out.
