Hyundai Repair: 2001 Stant Fe sometimes wont start, hyundai service, paint expert

Question
My 2001 Santa Fe sometimes won't start. It turns over but as soon as I let go of the key it stops. It usually starts after a couple of trays, but once it did not. It usually does this when the engine has only been turned off for 5 or 10 minutes, but sometimes when cold. If I let it sit for another 10 minutes, then it will start fine. Took it to reliable local mechanic twice and they could not duplicate the problem or diagnose it. Thanks for any help.

Answer
Hi Coleen, Due to automobile manufacturer's interest in internal job security,  we are finding mechanical problems only diagnosable by their own certified mechanics.  In other words unless you take it to a certified Hyundai mechanic you may find yourself spending more money and not ever getting anything accomplished except the need to eventually take it to a certified hyundai mechanic anyway.

I signed up as an auto paint expert.  I do not know why people are asking me mechanic questions but my bosses who are in cahoots with insurance companies, determine if a car is feasably fixable or a throw-away car.  This term throw-away car is something body shop owners have told me -  a car that costs less than $20,000.00 new is considered a throw-away car.  In other words, after a few years it becomes more expensive to fix than it is worth.  Auto manufacturers as well as all appliance manufacturers, computer manufacturers, etc. plan it this way since the 1950's.  It is called planned obsolescence.

I think the Pope spoke out against it calling it the sin of greed but manufacturers call it doing business as usual.

If i were you I would try talking it over with a hyundai service writer or a hyundai mechanic and not give them the car to work on if they appear to not know what you are talking about. Your question is straightforward enough to me, (i mean i understand it and can even relate to familiar experiences way back when i drove chevrolets and fords), however, me being an autopainter is like you asking a dentist or somebody that is not experienced enough to help you with your particular mechanic problem.  i would guess neither can a strictly or for the most part experienced ford or chevrolet mechanic help you.
