Hyundai Repair: hyundai accent98 backup lighs, hyundai accent, backup lights

hi, i have a '98 hyundai accent gs sport with a '99 tiburon motort fit in it. My backup lights used to  be functional, but all of a sudden they dont work and are not burnt out? why ? help me plz thanks a lot see ya

If you have manual transmission; backup lights are activated by reverse switch which is located on top of the tranny, next to the trany mounting bracket.Disconnect that connector and bridge it (when the ignition is on) to see if backup lights work. If they work then you have a bad reverse switch, if they do not work then you have an open circuit in the system.
If you have Auto transm.; Transmission range switch, which is located on top of the trany turns backup lights on. It is more complicated to test it so you might want to replace it.
