Hyundai Repair: Hyundai electrical problem, electrical lubricant, hyundai elantra

Question
My Girlfriend has a hyundai elantra and was driving when it was raining and she heard a pop noise coming from her left side kinda under the dashboard but just into the engine compartment.  I checked all the fuses and they are fine.  Her clock and radio and keyless entry does not work and none of the light except the rev counter and speedomoter will light up and when you start the car up the rev meter and speedomoter both jump up to a 12 o clock position and then go back down to the normal position in a few seconds. normally her car will "remember" that the AC is on but everytime you shut the car off it won't be turned on. any help will be appreciated.  Thank you very much!

Answer
Hello Chris,
It sounds like an intermittent short on the harness caused all these problems. Check all the fuses (under dash and engine compartment). I do not know the year of your vehicle but on 2001 and 2002 Elantras , we had water leak problem on the front/right door. Leak was causing corrosion on the door harness connector. This might lead to lighting and power door lock problems. You can remove lower/left corner trim. Behind that you will see 2 connectors.Disconnect them and check for corrosion. If you see corrosion, clean with electrical cleaner and lube with electrical lubricant.
