Hyundai Repair: 2001 Tiburon check engine light, emergency brake lever, crankshaft sensor

Question
Hi,

I had been out of the country for about 3 weeks, when I got back, my tiburon would not start, appeared that the battery was dead, as it was a brand new battery, got it replaced under warranty. after installing it tried and still had issues starting. the starter would turn over, but it wouldn't run. after playing around with it for a few hours, the car finally started. ran it for a while with no major problems other than a rough idle. parked the car and then ran it again later and the check engine light came on, and has been on since yesterday. any suggestions as to what it may be? seems to idle smoothly now. also was wondering how to adjust the handbrake as it is loose?

Thanks,

Answer
Hello Ricky,
It sounds like the crankshaft sensor is giving up. But we need to know which code caused the check engine light to be sure. Most part stores have scanner to read the codes. When you got the code/s ,let me know so we can talk about problem and solution. For the emergency brake adjustment, at the end of the emergency brake lever(you need to take center console out), you will find an adjustment nut (you will need a 12 mm socket).By tightening (or loosening) it you can adjust the emergency brake.
