Hyundai Repair: 03 Elantra GT ABS/TCS Lights came on, elantra gt, themostat

Question
My ABS and TCS lights came on my car. After dropping my daughter off, I
couldn't use my brakes at all. I had to use the E-brake to stop. I took it to a
mechanic and he later told me it was the ABS Hydraulic Control Unit that had
the problem. I've never heard of any cars like mine having that issue at this
time. My car has a little over 78K miles on it. Just a couple of days before that
happened my car over heated and it was because of the themostat. I took it to
the dealership then brought it back home (towing) because we could do it
ourselves cheaper. Well then this ABS problem came about, and something I
have never heard of. Is this uncommon? Could this be something that the
dealership did? Now that part had to be special ordered and costing me
$1,500. I need lots of help and advise.  Thank you.

Answer
Hello Denise,
First of all, ABS hydraulic unit malfunction is not common on those cars. But, in order to help you I really need to know the trouble codes stored in the system that caused abs/tcs lights to turn on. Can you ask the dealer about the codes?,
