Hyundai Repair: 2004 Accent Timing Belt replacement, timing belt replacement, daily basis

Question
Hi there,

My car has just went pass the 100k km mark and I am aware that I do need a timing belt change.  While the service manual suggested that it gets replaced at 96k km, I am now a bit over (101k to be exact).  I am currently not able to find spare time until next week to leave the car down for a day as I need the car on a daily basis, would that be a concern?  Do I anticipate any problem within the next 1000km?  Should I be making time in the next few days to get it done? (The belt is already ordered)  I do mostly highwway driving if that matters.

Also, is there usually any signs before it breaks, or it would just snap anytime without any warnings?

Thanks!
Chris

Answer
Hello Chris,
First of all, it snaps without any warning and can damage the engine. Interval for timing belt replacement is every 60K. If it has been replaced at 60000 miles , you still have 20000 miles to go. If it will be the first replacement, you are way late and replace it as soon as possible.
