Hyundai Repair: Front wheel stud replacement, hyundai elantra, lug nut

Question
I need to change to of the front studs on my 2001 Hyundai Elantra, How do I change them? Do I need to replace the whole hub or can I just replace the 2 that I need changed. Thank you

Answer
You can replace just the two that have a problem.  You'll need to remove the wheel and caliper (with bracket).  Once you've done that, position the studs in question in front of the opening where the caliper was, and hammer them out through the back.  Then, install the new studs through the same opening.  If the stud won't quite fit, you can grind a flat on one side of the flange to squeeze it by the knuckle.  Once you have the stud through the hole, draw it down with a regular lug nut with the flat side against the rotor (or hub).  Using the tapered end of a lug nut will damage the hub or rotor.
