hey, i was just wondering how to remove the door speakers on a 96 excel, does the grill come off or does the whole trim come off and what speakers do i need, shallow mount, 4" 5" 6", just all of those things and anything else i should know abou treplaceing them

You'll need to remove the door panel to access the speakers.  

Since I'm not familiar with aftermarket speaker applications, I've never concerned myself with size and dimensions.  The speaker does have the width of the door behind it, so I doubt you'd need shallow mount speakers.  But to determine the size for certain, your best bet is to remove one of the door panels and measure.
