Hyundai Repair: Car wont start., hyundai elantra, crank sensor

Question
I have a 2000 Hyundai Elantra 2.0L, automatic. It has 118,000 miles, the problem i have is when we would take short trips and cut the engine off it would not start again. We would have wait at least 1 hr. before it would fire up again. It did that a couple of times, then never again, but i noticed it got hard to start. Well know it won't start at all. Check the fuel pump and spark, not getting any spark or hearing the fuel pump kick on. Can you help pin point my problem? I also ran a code scanner, no codes showed up!

Answer
The following presumes the starter cranks the engine but the engine does not start.

Since you have no spark, my initial thought is that your crank sensor may be failing.  But this typically stores a trouble code.

When the problem occurs, does the check engine lamp illuminate for a few seconds when you turn the key to the "on" position?
