Hyundai Repair: stalling, air flow sensor, advanced auto parts

Question
My Hyundai elantra 2000 has been slowing the rpms and stalling on occasion. It starts back up right away and so I took it to advanced auto parts and the code P0102 came up. What do I do with this information?

Answer
P0102 indicates the voltage from the air flow sensor is so low that it shouldn't be a possible reading while the engine is running.

First, contact your Hyundai dealer with your vehicle identification number available.  Request them to check to see if there are any open service campaigns.  Campaign 040 may address your issue.  If there are no service campaigns open, proceed with the following:

One possibility is a problem with the air bellows between the air flow sensor and throttle body.  Check the bellows to be sure it's securely attached and has no leaks.

Another possible problem is poor contact in the air flow sensor connector.  Using needlenose pliers, twist the terminals on the air flow sensor just a small amount.  This will ensure they make positive contact with the terminals in the connector.

Ordinarily, I'd say that if the above doesn't resolve the issue, you'll most likely need to replace the air flow sensor.  But since the service campaign involves the air flow sensor connector wiring, you should first look at the harness attached to the air flow sensor connector.  If it's evident that work has been done there, untape the harness and check to make sure all the splices are in good condition.  If not, repair the splices.  If so, reinsulate and tape the harness and replace the air flow sensor.
