Hyundai Repair: 2002 Santa Fe Window Problem, window assembly, frequent problem

Question
Driver side front window came off of the track and while trying to close it a piece of white plastic obviously broken, popped off. Where can I get a parts list and picture of the window assembly/regulator?

Answer
You can find a number of drawings in the door section of the shop manual at www.hmaservice.com.  The site requires Internet Explorer, and you'll need to register for a free account.  For a parts list, you'll probably need to visit your local dealer and see if they'll print the page from the parts catalog for you.

The most frequent problem is that one of the screws attaching the window to the regulator falls out.  Sometimes, when this happens, the plastic retainer with the nut for the screw also gets knocked off the window.  Repair is usually simply a matter of removing the door trim panel, retrieving the screw and retainer from inside the door, and reinstalling everything, making sure the window glass mounting screws are tight.  In some cases, you may need to completely unbolt the window to realign it.
