Hyundai Repair: 2000 hyundai accent, camshaft timing, hyundai accent

Question
i have a 2000 hyundai accent that died on me while driving.  All lights lit up and it died.  We found it was the timing belt and have replaced that.  One:  I want to make sure we are lining it up right and two: we are not getting a reading of compression.  what can we do. how do we properly line up the timimg?

Answer
You can view diagrams of your timing belt and the timing marks in the shop manual at www.hmaservice.com.  You'll need to register for a free account, and the site requires Internet Explorer.  There will be instructions regarding proper timing.

Since your timing belt stripped or broke, it's likely you have engine damage (typically bent valves).  If your camshaft timing is correct and you have no compression, you'll need to remove the cylinder head for further repairs.
