Hyundai Repair: door lock gizmo, hyundai dealer, power locks

Question
Is there any way to repair the power door lock Transmitter. (the thing you press to lock and unlock the power locks on a 2001 Santa Fe? I have two of these gizmos and one just stopped working even with a new battery properly installed in it. The local Hyundai dealer wants $140 to replace and reprogram a new one. If there is no inexpensive repair solution for the transmitter is there a way to disconnect the power door lock system. The way the power lock system is now if the car is unlocked by using the key alone (not using the gizmo) an alarm sounds and the car will not start until the unlock or lock button is depressed.

Answer
If it was working before and is not working now, even with a good battery, then you need a new transmitter.

To keep the alarm from setting, you can lock the vehicle with the power lock button inside the vehicle.  The alarm will not set if the vehicle is not locked with the remote.  Unfortunately, the alarm cannot be disconnected because it's integral with the vehicle's computer systems.
