Hyundai Repair: Hyundai 2002 Sante Fe V6 replace a/c switch, knob assembly, sante fe

Question
I've determined I need to remove/replace the a/c switch because it stopped working and when I wiggle it a certain way, the fan motor will come back on and the green light for a/c as well.  All my fuses are ok, the fan motor runs fine on 12V (I removed it to test it).  I need to know how to get the round knob assembly out and replace it.

Thanks,

Scott Emick

Answer
Since you're referring to your fan motor coming back on, I presume you're referring to your fan switch, not your A/C switch (the button with the light that comes on when the A/C compressor is turned on).  First, you'll need to remove the lower portion of the center facia.  To do this remove the two screws from behind the ashtray and unsnap the facia.  Then pull off the switch knob.  Last, rotate the switch assembly to detach it from the back of the heater control assembly.  You may need to remove a retaining screw or depress a locking tab to allow the switch to rotate-- it's been a while since I've looked at one of these, so I cannot remember for certain how the control is assembled).
