Hyundai Repair: Hyundai Lantra gearbox removal, hyundai lantra, throwout bearing

Question
Hi i own a hyundai lantra 1997 with the 1.6 litre and 5 speed gearbox. The engine blew up so i got one from the local wreckers to change over. I pulled the engine and box out in 1 but now i cant seperate the box from the motor it comes off about an inch then springs back on. Any one got any ideas?

Answer
The (E)Lantra uses a pull type clutch pressure plate, so the release fork is stuck in the throwout bearing and not allowing you to separate the transmission from the engine.  You'll need to remove the throwout bearing release fork shaft lever from the shaft to enable it to turn far enough to rotate the release fork from the throwout bearing.
