Hyundai Repair: Galloper ABS, loose gravel, hyundai dealers

Question
I have ABS on my year 2000 2.5TD Galloper, but no light comes on when I turn ignition on. Car slides on loose gravel with wheels locked. My mechanic says it's common here in spain for Hyundai dealers to remove dash light if ABS light doesn't go out!!!! My guess is sensor somewhere isn't working. Any ideas

Answer
There are several possibilities as to why the ABS lamp doesn't illuminate during bulb check:
1.  The bulb has been removed.
2.  The bulb is burned out.
3.  The ABS control module is unplugged.
4.  There's an open circuit in the bulb circuit wiring.
5.  The ABS control module is defective.
6.  The fuse for the ABS lamp has been removed.

The first thing to do is to interrogate the ABS control module to read the trouble codes (if possible) to find the nature of the problem.  Unfortunately, this will probably require a visit to the dealer.
