Question
when driving mainly after the car has stood over night it jolts and seems not able to engage into gear on automatic drive

Answer
Check your transmission fluid (hot-- after driving vehicle-- idling in neutral, with engine running and parking brake applied).  If low, check for leaks and repair any present, and bring the fluid to the proper level with SP-III transmission fluid.

If the fluid level is okay, check the shifter cable and range switch for proper operation and adjustment.  This is beyond the scope of most do-it-yourselfers.  If you're unable to do this, I recommend at this point to take the vehicle to your local dealer for diagnosis.  Most likely the problem is internal in the transmission and will require transmission replacement to repair, but I wouldn't want you to replace the transmission if servicing the cable or range switch could possibly cure the issue.
