Hyundai Repair: CARS VIBRATION, hyundai santa fe, excessive vibration

Question
HI, I HAVE A 2001 HYUNDAI SANTA FE 2.4L L4 FI TO WHICH I RECENTLY INSTALLED AN EXTERNAL COOLER BECAUSE THE ONE FROM THE RADIATOR BROKE.  THIS WAS THE MECHANIC SUGGESTION.  SINCE I GOT THAT WORK DONE I FEEL A LOT OF VIBRATION ON THE STEERING WHEEL.  CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT MAY BE THE CAUSE OF THE EXCESSIVE VIBRATION AND IF IT HAS ANY TO DO WITH THE WORK RECENTLY DONE.

Answer
I presume you're referring to a transmission fluid cooler.  This shouldn't affect the engine or vehicle vibration.

Santa Fes with 2.4L engines do vibrate the steering wheel quite significantly at idle, even worse when the a/c is on.  If the vibration gets worse as the engine is revved, it's likely that you have a problem somewhere causing excessive engine vibration, perhaps a broken balance shaft belt.  If the vibration goes away when revving the engine, then it's likely either normal or due to weak engine/transmission mounts.
